Winnipeg New Horizons Band

Where Adults Learn to Play!

Have you ever dreamed of playing a musical instrument? Is there a dusty instrument in your closet that you've been thinking about playing? We can provide you with the opportunity to live those dreams!

We are an adult learning band. The only requirement to join is a desire to play a band instrument. Our conductors are experienced band teachers from local schools.

Observers Are Always Welcome!

We practise on Saturday mornings from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Rd., Winnipeg, MB. There are different groups:

  1. Beginner: Learn your instrument or learn to read music in a comfortable and supportive environment. As you increase your knowledge and skill you can move up to the transition group to fine-tune!

  2. Junior: At the junior level you can continue to improve your music reading skills while playing your chosen instrument in a nonjudgmental learning environment! When you feel ready you can join the intermediate group.

  3. Intermediate: At the intermediate level you will continue to improve your skills while learning new arrangements. Throughout the season these are often performed for family, fundraising events and other occasions.

If you have questions or are interested in attending a practice session to see what it's all about email Ian McKay or  Lois Ward
